Emergency responders in Miami-Dade County could soon be more efficient due to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s new drone technology. A live demonstration of the drones was held in early June 2019 to show firefighters how the technology can be used to help them in search and rescue efforts.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue currently has two drone teams: one serving in the north end of the county and the other in the south end. Each team has an operator and a visual observer.

Jeff Suarez, the Special Operations Division Chief, said: “By deploying the drone teams, we can get imagery back to the emergency office immediately, so we can come up with a plan and mitigate the emergency faster.”
